Encryption is widely used to secure our daily digital communications. This talk will discuss various encryption concepts and their use cases. It will address questions such as: What are public/private key pairs and how are they used? What’s the difference between symmetric and asymmetric encryption and how does one choose which to use? How can a cryptographic hash be used to verify that a download has not been corrupted, either accidentally or maliciously? What is a hash collision? What makes HTTPS secure?
